We don't know the names of his parents, but we think he was the son of James Hall who was counted on the 1820 Emanuel County Federal Census, not counted in Emanuel County in the 1830, died c1835 in Emanuel County. James left his four minor children, James, J.J., John, and Sarah under the guardianship of Mitchell Neal and Noah Tison, bound for the sum of $200, dated September 7, 1835. Mitchell Neal was appointed guardian of his minor children- James Hall, J.J. Hall, John Hall, and Sarah Hall. My Grandmother Annie Mae Hall Poole was his great great grandaughter, and she always told me we were related to the Halls in Wrightsville. (She lived near Corinth Methodist Church ) She always tried to shop at the Hall Brothers Store when she went to Wrightsville. and they were from William B. Probably is true because Henry and William B. were the onlv 2 Hall men of their ages who lived almost exclusively in the 56th GMD, Pullen District. We think Henry and Willian B. Hall were brothers. They received land grants about the same time, lived near each other, and often named their children the same names. William B. married Mary Ann Kight. William B Hall bought lot #26 in the city of Wrightsville in 1859. From the records I see now they did not seem to be extremely close or have very much interaction like some brothers. I did see Henry and William were on the same juries at times. At one time on a census there were two families between them, another census there was only one family counted between them, so I know they were living near each other at times. Henry married Amelia Johnson about 1835 probably in Emanuel County. We have not found a marriage license for them. He first appeared on a census in 1840, and was listed as age 35, born in Georgia and having a wife and 3 boys under the age of 5 years. They would have been Daniel E., James M., and Joseph B. Hall. I was told by Pamela Hall Forney that the father of Amelia was James Johnson. He received a land grant for 633 acres in 1842 bounded by Williamson Rowland and Noah Tison. Copy of this grant obtained from Swainsboro, Emanuel County Georgia Court House in my posession. The grant was adjoined by Noah Tison, Sharp, Neels Creek, and Williamson Rowland. He received 300 acres in 1858. His original homestead might have been where a cousin, Mildred Hall Smith lives. She said when she first moved to her present home near Meeks, she wondered if the log building that was there at the time was where Henry and Amelia had lived. On page 129 in book Johnson County Churches compiled for The Johnson County Historical Society by Magnolia Press; Henry Hall was a member of Sardis Church. He was first named in the 1840 Federal Censaus for Emanuel Co Ga, 56 GMD, Henry Hall, his wife, and 3 sons under age 5 ( they would have been Daniel E, James M, and Joseph B ). On the 1850 Emanuel Census, house 403, Henry Hall was age 41 born 1809, died c1890 near Meeks, wife Emelia age 31 born 1819 and died c 1890, and I do not know the place of their burial. Daniel E age 14 born 1836, James M age 12 born 1838, Joseph B age 11 born 1839, John age 10 born 1840, William A age 8 born 1842, Henry ( Henry Caswell ) age 7 born 1843, Elizabeth age 5 born 1845, George Albert age 3 born 1847. Their second child was James M who was born in 1838 in Georgia. In 1860 he was age 22, living in the house with his parents and Serving! in the Militia. He was a Private March 4, 1862 when he enlisted in the Johnson County Battleground Guards and served until July 2, 1863 when he was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg Joseph B was born in 1839in Georgia. In 1860 he was age 21 and Serving! in the Militia. He was a Private March 4, 1862 when he enlisted in the Johnson County Battleground Guards. He was killed July 2, 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg. William A was born in 1843 in Georgia. In 1860 he was age 17 and Serving! He was a Private March 4, 1862 in the Johnson County Battleground Guards. He was captured July 2, 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg and died at Fort Delaware, Delaware, August 30, 1863. They had five sons who fought for the Confederacy. Three of them died. In 1860 Henry was age 15 (my Henry Caswell was Serving! ) George Albert was age 12; Eliza was age 14; Barney D was age 10; Mary Catherine was age 8; Isaac Thomas was age 3. He was the last of their children. Mary Catherine and Isaac Thomas were living in the house with Henry and Amelia in 1880. After they died Mary Catherine and Isaac Thomas lived together on land Henry had given them until c1900. He gave most of his children land when they became adults. 1860 Johnson Co GA Federal Census Dwelling 193, Family 189, Henry was age 51; Milly age 43. Daniel E, their oldest child, married Catherine E Love and lived nearby and in a house of his own. John is not in their home after 1850, I don't know if he died or left their house. I talked to W.C.Tyson in Adrian in 1991 and he told me there was a Hall man living in Meeks next to the grist mill Uncle Melvin Tanner Hall operated about 1940. Tom Hall was his name and he had many children, possibly 10 or 15. He was a widower and married a very young woman. In 1854 Poor School Fund List for Emanuel Co Ga 56th District I copied from the Office of the Probate Judge in Swainsboro and in my posession now; Henry Hall has 4 children listed. In some of the Poor School Fund Lists for Emanuel Co Ga 56th District that I copied from the office of the Probabe Judge in Swainsboro, and in my possession now; Henry Hall had children attending until Johnson County was created in 1858 and his land pitched into Johnson from Emanuel.
