Archive- Confederate Pension Records Written: February 6, 1909 Recorded: February 6, 1909 Wrightsville, Ga. Feb 6th, 1909. State of Georgia, Johnson County. Personally appeared before the undersigned, J.C. Wiggins, Ordinary of said county,an officer of said state duly authorized by law to administer oaths, J.B. Thomas, who first being duly sworn deposes and says that he was present at the death of Manning Thomas, and that he died on the 10th day of January, 1909. That he left no widow or dependent children. That the itemized statement hereto set out in this affadavit represents the funeral expenses as well as the expense of his last illness: that for the last four months prior to his death he was absolutely helpless requiring a constant nurse as well as medical attention. Funeral and burial expenses, coffin, robe, grave, etc. $15.00 Expenses of nurse $5.00 per week 16 weeks $80.00 Medical bill $10.00 J.B. Thomas Sworn to and subscribed before me this Feb. 6th, 1909 J.C. Wiggins Ordinary, Johnson Co. Ga. Additional Comments: This court recordng was type written. The name Manning Thomas was type written, then lined through and hand written Marion. This was Manning Thomas,confedrate soldier. Witness was his son J.B. who had a distinctive handwriting, which I regognize on this document.
