                      Murder and Suicide Involved In Case Here
 Ar approximately 8pm, Nov. 28, a call was made to the residence of Sheriff 
Attaway by Louise Owens stating that James Samuel Eblen had shot his wife 
Lenora Foskey Eblen. Horace C. Eblen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eblen, came on the 
phone and stated that his father had shot his mother, and when this happened, 
he and his sister, Cindy Faye Eblen, ran out of the house and down to his 
Aunt's house, Mrs. Betty Jean Foskey.
 Sheriff Attaway, Deputy Sheriff Tanner, Deputy Sheriff Rowland, and Deputy 
Sheriff Garnto went to the scene four miles from Adrian on Route 1 and found 
Mr. and Mrs. Eblen on a couch in the living room. A 22 caliber pistol was in 
Mr. Eblen's hand. Mrs. Eblen had been shot eight times, twice in the arm and 
six times in the head and neck. Mr. Eblen then apparently went into his room, 
emptied the spent cartidges, reloaded the gun, went back, sat down on the 
couch and shot himself three times. The last bullet apparently went into the 
upper part of the heart, killing him instantly.
 When the shooting started, Cindy Faye Eblen was sitting in her mother's lap 
but was not hit by a bullett.
 Coroner Richard Stanley was called to the scene and he pronounced Mr. and 
Mrs. Eblen dead. The bodies were carried to Stanley Funeral Home.
 This case involved murder and suicide.

Additional Comments:
Lenora Foskey Eblen was born 11-18-1935 to John Calvin Foskey and Revenna Bell 
McAfee. James Samuel Eblen was born 12-17-1916.
