Earl Camp on April 28 at 10 o'clock. Buttersworth was convicted of the murder of his father-in-law, Hillery Pope, by a jury in Johnson Superior Court last week and was immediately sentenced to life imprisonment. Attorneys promptly filed a motion for a new trial. Pending hearing on the motion, Buttersworth is being held in the Laurens County jail. He was removed there because of unsanitary conditions existing in the county jail. Pope was shot to death with a single-barrel shotgun in the yard of his home near Scott.
