JNO. CARTER Mr. John W. Carter, a farmer living on the place of J. H. Sterling, died suddenly Tuesday night, of last week. Mr. Carter had just completed a day's work and was preparing to go to his house when he was stricken in the fields. Medical aid was rushed to him but he lived only a short time. Mr. Carter moved to Treutlen county the early part of this year, formerly living in Laurens county. He was 54 years old and a member of Bay Springs Baptist church. He had the reputation of being a hard-working and a fully trust-worthy gentleman. The deceased is survived by his widow, two sons and three daughters. The interment took place at Bay Springs cemetery, Rev. S. D. Walker conducting the funeral service. Additional Comments: John was born 4 May 1878 to Joseph O. Carter and Mary Elizabeth Beasley Carter. His wife was Mattie Teresa "Recie " Coxwell Carter whi si also buried in Bay Springs.
