Claxton, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Emory University, Atlanta. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Lacey and Bill Garner officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Mr. Claxton, a native of Johnson County, had retired as a service station owner. He served in the Korean War. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Price Claxton; a son, Joseph P. Claxton Jr., Macon; a daughter, Sandee Claxton Boutwell, Stone Mountain; three sisters, Gail Drake and Edna Baggett, both of Dublin, and Velma Price, Baxley; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Richard and Joyce Stanley Funeral Home.
