Funeral services were held Saturday at Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Ruffin and the Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John Powell, Bennie Powell, Glenn Skinner, Palmer McGee, Flip Jackson, and Lamar Sheppard. A native of Johnson County, he was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church and a retired carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Myrtis Mimbs of Meeks; a daughter, Kay Short of Meeks; two sons, Robert Mimbs and Dwaine Mimbs of Meeks; a sister, Ida Jones of Adrian; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Shadowlawn Mortuary of Swainsboro was in charge of the arrangements. Additional Comments: Rastus was born 28 Apr 1916 to James L. "Jim" Mimbs and Elizabeth Stella Hutcheson.
