The Wrightsville Headlight Thursday February 10, 1944


Mrs. Andrew Perry Answers Final Call.  

Mrs. Andrew Perry, wife of Mr. W. A. Perry, prominent and highly respected 
citizen of the county who moved to Lizella about a year ago, died in a Macon 
hospital Thursday of last week after an illness of about two weeks.

Mrs. Perry was the former Miss Gussie Belle Garrett, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. 
A. H. Garrett, and was a fine Christian woman and mother.  She was a member of 
the Lizella Baptist Church and was active in the Woman’s Missionary Society. 

Before moving to Lizella, Mr. And Mrs. Perry resided in the city, where Mr. 
Perry was associated with Brantley’s Drug Store.  He previously was overseer 
on the large farm of Mr. W. H. Lovett in the Buckeye section.  

Funeral services were held from Brown Memorial Baptist church Saturday morning 
with Rev. Harvey Mitchell, Barnesville minister and former pastor here, 
officiating.  The Rev. Douglas M. White, who is now serving as pastor of Brown 
Memorial assisted.  Interment was in West View with the Kent Funeral Home in 
charge. 

Hundreds of friends attended the last rites and the floral offering was 
profuse, attesting the respect and esteem in which this good woman was held.  

Besides her husband she is survived by seven children: Truett,, who is serving 
with the U. S. Army in England; Elizabeth, Herbert, Sarah, Margaret and Alice 
Jean; her parents and several brothers and sisters.





Additional Comments:
Gussie Bell was born in Wrightsville, Johnson Co., Georgia August 9, 1900 the 
daughter of of Augustus Henry Garrett and Alice Elizabeth Harrison. She 
married William Andrew Perry in October 1919.
