Pope, 84, of Adrian died Tuesday, March 4, in a Dublin hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, in the chapel of Stanley Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Carter officiating. Burial was in Foskey Cemetery. A native of Laurens County, Mrs. Pope had lived in Johnson County most of her life. She was a member of Poplar Springs Methodist Church. Survivors include five daughters, Gladys McTier, Myrtice Soles, Erma Pope, Mazie Morgan, and Pauline Belote, all of Scott; a sister, Mrs. Perry Horton of Scott; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Stanley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Additional Comments: Effie was born 12-17-1900. Georgia death certificate #009555. Her husband was Hilton J. "Hillery" Pope who is also buried in the Foskey Cemetery.
