Riner Passed Away Last Monday Died Monday after a long illness, Mr. Riner was one of Johnson County's most prominent citizens and had served as tax collector for sixteen years. Mr. Riner, a native of Johnson County, when a young man was engaged in farming and general mercantile business. When elected tax collector in 1919, he moved his family to Wrightsville and retired in 1935. Mr. Riner married Mrs. Nora Catherine Thompson in 1902, who survives him. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and always took an active interest in religious and civic affairs in the county. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Henry Lovett and Miss Ruby Riner, Atlanta and Mrs. Charles Downs and Mrs. Lowry New, both of Wrightsville; one son, Corporal Woodrow J. Riner, US Air Force; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services were held from the Brown Memorial Baptist Church, Wrightsville, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. Earl York and Rev. Sidney Claxton officiating.
