(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net August 26, 2011, 12:25 pm The Swainsboro Blade 1-23-1980 Page 8B Services for Joseph Riner Held Tuesday Afternoon The funeral for Joseph Cooledge Riner, 55, was held at 3pm Tuesday at Sardis Baptist Church. The Rev. Remer Spivey and the Rev. Don Atkinson officiated, with interment in the church cemetery. Mr. Riner, a native of Johnson County, died Sunday in Reidsville. He was a security officer at the Georgia State Prison, a veteran of World War II, and was retired from the USAF. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mary Riner of Swainsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Braswell and Mrs. Lois Scott, both of Swainsboro and Mrs. Myrtice Meeks; and a brother, Russell Riner of the US Education Center, Korea. Pallbearers included Elbert Spivey, Elton Hemphill, Alvie Rewis, Buck Branch, Hildred Meeks, and Sprog Douglas. Shadowlawn Mortuary of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
