                           George E. Smith
 Services for George Elzie Smith, 82, of Scott, were held at 4:30pm Sunday at 
Bay Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Bush and the Rev. Arthur 
Foskey officiating and burial in the church cemetery.
 A lifelong resident of Johnson County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late 
George R. and Bessie Hutcheson Smith, was retired from Robins Air Force Base, 
and was a member, retired deacon, treasurer and Sunday school superintendent 
at Bay Springs Baptist Church. He died Saturday.
 Survivors include his wife, Louise Hoover Smith of Scott; a daughter, Levada 
Smith King of Dublin; a son, Elzie Arnold Smith of Scott; three brothers, 
Percy Smith and Robert R. Smith of Adrian, and the Rev. Lonnie D. Smith of 
Scott; two sisters, Addie Renfroe of East Dublin and Onita Carpenter of 
Yakima, Wash.; three grandsons, Daniel Melvin King Jr. and David Michael King 
of Dublin, and Arnold Channing Smith of Scott; and a great-granddaughter, 
Malaina Kristan King of Macon.
 Joe Martin, Jack Foskey, Walter Haywood, Dan King Jr., David King, and Chan 
Smith served as pallbearers.
 Townsend Brothers Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
