B. Spell Died Tuesday Charlie Bartow Spell, 79, died at his home near Swainsboro, Tuesday, after an extended illness. Mr. Spell was born in Johnson County. His first wife was Miss Mary Foskey; his second, who survives him, is the former Miss Edna Woods. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Dora Smith and Mrs. Arrilla Thigpen of Scott, Mrs. Lieuada Thigpen and Mrs. Mattie Flanders of Adrian; three sons, John and Bud Spell, of Swainsboro and Arthur Spell of Macon. Funeral servives were held at Poplar Springs Church near Adrian at 4:00pm Wednesday. The members of Masonic Lodge No. 244 of Swainsboro, of which Mr. Spell was a member acted as pallbearers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pall bearers were: Bennie Ehrlich, Gibson Johnston, R. B. Darling, Louis Rosenberg, William Edenfield, and Herman Subotnick. Swainsboro Mortuary was in charge of the services. Additional Comments: Charlie was born 6-25-1863. Both his first wife, Mary Ann Foskey Spell, born 12-4-1862 and died 7-22-1909 and his second wife, Miss Edna F. Wood Spell, born 10-1-1861 and died 5-21-1953, are also buried at Poplar Springs Church Cemetery.
