Cannie fought for the Confederacy in the War Between the States; represented Johnson County in the House of Representatives 1896-1897; moved to Normantown ca. 1905 and was instrumental in Normantown's being incorporated as a town Died in Normantown, Toombs County, and buried in Pinecrest Cemetery, Vidalia.
