I AMOS DOUGLASS of the county of Johnson and State aforesaid being of sound mind & memory & being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have strength so to do make and publish this last will & testament hereby revoking all wills by me at any time yet afore made and first I commit my soul to GOD who gave it and (my) body I desire to be buried in a christian like manner according to my circustance and my worldly estate I dispose as follows: Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife SUSANNAH DOUGLASS all my lands and plantation tools and farming utensials and the stock of all kinds during her natural life with the following conditions that all the cattle that has yet afore been given to the children such as in item mark is excepted for the children such as cattle & sheep. Item 2nd At my wife's death I give all my land to my two sons to wit JOHN A. DOUGLASS and DAVID Z. DOUGLASS on the conditions that they pay all their sisters fifty dollars to each one at the death of their mother and I also give to my two sons before named a good horse each to his own unless necessity requires it to be decided between them and their mother. Item 3rd I wish all my money & notes and everything of my estate at my wife's death to be equally divided between all my heirs and I also ordain and appoint my worthy friend and brother-in-law ELISHA COLEMAN my executor to excecute this my last will and testament in witness wherof the said AMOS DOUGLASS hath hereto set his hand and seal this the 23rd day of July 1864.
