Edward Brooks of Jones Co.,Ga. drew Land Lot No. 94/15th of Houston, it later became a part of Macon Co., Ga. [1837 Macon Co. was formed] He got the grant on 12-20-1828 and has moved to then Houston Co. by 1830 census. 1830 Houston Co., Ga. Tax Digest 15 Slaves - 525 Acres + 405 Acres+381 Acres all in the 15th Dist. of Macon Co., Orig.Houston Co., Ga. In 1840 Census Macon Co., Ga. Edward Brooks, Sr. 1 - m under 5 1 - f 5-10 2 - m 5-10 1 - f 15-20 2 - m 20-30 1 - f 30-40 1 - m 40-50 [17 slaves] In 1850 Census Macon Co., Ga. I find: BROOKS, Edward 50 SC Edward 17 GA ***would be born 1833 Samuel 15 GA George W. 12 GA Martha A. 22 GA SPINKS, Mary J. 20 GA BROOKS, Mary V. 1 Ga This family appears to live between Marshallville and Mon-tezuma, not near any other Brooks family. None of this Brooks family found in the Macon County Cemeteries. They always lived by John Young and Daniel Haugabook. There is a Young Family Cem. Now in bad condition, was partially restored by family members but no Brooks markers are there.
