HENRY MITCHELL

BIOGRAPHY OF HENRY MITCHELL, REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER  
              OF JONES COUNTY, GEORGIA


Henry Mitchell, Revolutonary Soldier, of Jones County,
Georgia, was serving in the Continental Army during
the American Revolutionary War.


Henry Mitchell (RS) married Sarah Maderias Mitchell of
an old line colonial family from Middlesex County and
Essex County, Virginia.  Henry Mitchell (RS) also was
born in Virginia.  Henry Mitchell (RS) was born to the
Surrey Mitchells on August 31, 1745.   


"AUTHENTIC LIST OF ALL LAND LOTTERY GRANTS MADE TO
VETERANS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR BY THE
STATE OF GEORGIA", 2ND EDITION 1966:


Henry Mitchell (RS) was a "fortunate drawer" in the Fifth
Georgia Land Lottery of 1827.  While he was a resident of
Jones County, Georgia, the land that he drew was in Carroll
County, Georgia.  The land was awarded on December 13, 1836.
This information is available, via internet, from the
Georgia Department of Archives and History, under
Revolutionary Soldiers. The name of the document is:
"Authentic List of All Land Lottery Grants made to Veterans
of the Revolutionary War by the State of Georgia, second
edition 1966.
