 Jones Co. Inferior Court Minutes 

"Sally Cousins a free person of colour comes into Court
and makes the written application upon the part of
herself, and her eight children viz, Rupele, Martha,
Caroline, Mary, John, Arnold, Emily and Nancy, praying
that Abraham Odom of said County may be appointed
Guardian for her person and property, also of the person
and property of her children aforesaid.  (Signed) Sally
Cousins 

said Abraham Odom having consented in writing to be
appointed Guardian for the said Sally and Children - It
is ordered by the Court that said Abraham Odom be
appointed Guardian for the person and property of said
free persons of colour.  And it is further ordered that
the Clerk do pen letters of Guardianship to said Abraham
Odom upon his giving bond and security in the sum of Two
thousand dollars. I consent to be appointed Guardian to
said free persons of colour.
