Power of Attorney
October 9, 1815

Know all men by these presents that I John Lindsey of the
State of Georgia and County of Jones for divers good
causes and considerations we hereunto have made ordered
authorized nominated and approved and by these presents
do make ordain authorize nominate and appoint James
Sockwell of the State and County aforesaid my true and
lawful attorney for me and in my name and for my own
proper use and benefit to ask demand sue for recover and
receive and from William Lindsey of the State of North
Carolina and County of Nash all sum or sums of money
debts and demands whatsoever which are now due and owing
unto me the said John Lindsey by and from the said
William Lindsey and to have use and take all lawfull way
and means in my name or otherwise for the recovery
thereof by attachment arrest distress or otherwise and to
compound and agree for the same and acquitances or other
sufficient discharges for the same for me and in my name
to make seal and deliver and to do all other lawful acts
and things whatsoever concerning the premises as fully
and in any respect as I myself might or could do were I
personally present at the doing thereof and attorneys one
or more under him for the purpose aforesaid to make and
adjoin at his pleasure to revoke ratifying and confirming
and by these presents allowing whatsoever my said
attorney shall lawfully do or came to be done in and
about the premises by virtue of these presents in witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Ninth

the State of Georgia & County of Jones attorney in fact
for John Lindsey of the State of Georgia and County of
Jones and authorized and empowered by the said John
Lindsey to ask demand receive of recover or sue for off &
from one William Lindsey of the State of North Carolina &
County of Nash all or any money due or owing from the
said Lindsey of North Carolina & Nash County unto the
said John Lindsey of Georgia & Jones County ~ 

To all to
whom these presents may come now know ye that James
Sockwell attorney as aforesaid for divers causes we
thereunto moving have made ordained constituted nominated
& appointed and do by virtue of these presents make
ordain constitute nominate and appoint Jabez Moody of the
said State of Georgia & County of Jones my lawful
attorney under me and as my use and in my behalf to ask
demand receive of sue for or recover off and from William
Lindsey of North Carolina & Nash County all moneys due or
owing from the said William Lindsey of North Carolina &
County of Nash unto John Lindsy of Georgia & County of
Jones whose lawful attorney given to collect said money
~~ And I the said James Sockwell give to & clothe my said
attorney Jabez Moody with full power to use all and every
way or manner of ways to compound or agree sue for
recover in any way he may deem proper to hereby cloth my
said attorney with ample full powers __ or respecting the
premises and to give receipt or other sufficient
discharge in writing for the same and to do all & all
manner of things that may be necessary or required
concerning the premises as fully in every respect as
could do myself were I personally present.  Ratifying &
confirming what my said attorney may lawfully do
respecting or touching the same.

In witness whereof I the said James Sockwell attorney in
fact for John Lindsey have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this 16th day of December in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifteen.
