GEORGIA
JONES COUNTY

It having been made known to us to us the Justices of the Inferior
Court of said County that the Office of Sheriff of said County 
has become vacant by the death of Bryant Funderburk late Sheriff 
of said County and notice has been given regretably in laws for 
an election to fill said vacancy, And it being necessary that 
some fit and proper person should be appointed to discharge the 
duties of said Office until said vacancy may be filled we the 
undersigned Justices of the Inferior Court of said County 
at a special meeting held at the Court House on the    day of 
September 1854 having to here by appoint John Bradley of said 
County Sheriff to discharge the duties of said office until said 
vacancy shall be filled as the law requires and it is atested(?) 
that said John Bradley given hand and Security in the sum of 
Twenty thousand dollars and taken to assume the Auth percribed by 
law.

Given under our hands as Justices of the Inferior Court of said 
County at the Court House in Clinton this    day of September 1854.
