Broach Book Q, Pg. 320 Bill of Sale to Secure Debt February 25, 1843 Nine Slaves Know all men by these presents that I, George Broach of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Five dollars cash in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well for the better securing the payment of certain promissory notes which the said George Broach hath heretofore made and delivered to Robert M. Broach of the County of Bibb bearing date and due as follows. One due January 1st 1843 payable one day after date for thirteen hundred and nine dollars. One due 6th of March 1842 payable one day after date and dated at the same time for twelve hundred and sixty dollars. One for nine hundred and eighty five dollars given one day after date and dated and due on the first of January 1842. One for one hundred and forty three dollars dated 25th December 1842 and due 1st January 1843. Whereby said George Broach promises to pay Robert M. Broach or bearer the different sums of money as above named for value received, have bargained and sold to the said Robert M. Broach the following property to wit: A certain Negro woman named Milly about twenty four years old and her two children, Ann nine years old and Essex eleven years old, Caroline a woman twenty eight years old and her three children Peter five years old, Franky three years old and Henry one year old, Mary twenty years old and her child Hariet one year old all of a dark complexion except Ann the girl nine years old which is of a yellow complexion. To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained property to him the said Robert M. Broach, his heirs and assigns forever and I the said George Broach for myself my heirs executors and administrators the said bargained property unto the said Robert M. Broach his heirs and assigns against me my executors and administrators and against all and every other person and persons whatever shall and will warrant and defend by these presents. Provided never the less that if the said George Broach his heirs executors and administrators shall and do well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Robert M. Broach his heirs and assigns the aforementioned sums of money in said promissory notes mentioned with lawful interest for the same according to the tenor of said notes there and from thence forth as well this bill of sale and the right to the property thereby conveyed as the said promissory note shall cause determine and be made to all intents and purposes . In testimony whereof the said George Broach hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this 25th day of Febry in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three.
