Broach Book Q, Pg. 321 Deed to Secure Debt February 25, 1843 Homeplace and 430 A Walnut Creek This indenture made this the twenty fifth day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty three between George Broach of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Robert M. Broach of the County of Bibb of the other part. Witnesseth that the said George Broach hath made and delivered to the said Robert M. Broach his certain promissory notes subscribed with his hand and bearing date as follows whereby the said George Broach hath promised to pay the said Robert M. Broach or bearer one due January 1st 1843 payable one day after date for thirteen hundred and nine dollars. One due the 6th of March 1842 payable one day after date and dated at the same time for twelve hundred and sixty dollars. One for nine hundred and eighty five dollars given one day after date and dated and due on the first of January 1842. One for one hundred and forty three dollars dated the twenty fifth day of December 1842 and due the first of January 1843. All given for value received. Now for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars by the said Robert M. Broach to the said George Broach in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well as for the better securing the payment of the aforesaid promissory notes the said George Broach hath granted bargained and sold and by these present doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Robert M. Broach, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Jones County whereon the said George Broach now resides and known and distinguished as the settlement of land purchased of John Martin in the year eighteen hundred and thirty nine adjoining Alexander Hunt, John Beasly, John King, Charles Brooks, William Moreland and Spencer Owens on the waters of Walnut Creek also four hundred and thirty acres more or less of land situate lying and being in the county of Jones adjoining lands Lowe, Hunt and others on the waters of Walnut Creek and known as the lands purchaed of Charles Brooks by the said George Broach.
