Georgia, Jones County
This Indenture maid [sic] This twenty first day of January one thousand eight 
hundred and forty two between Thos. Charlton Lockhart of the one part and John 
Barefield of the other part both of the same state above written.  Witnesseth  
that the said Thos. Charlton Lockhart for and in consideration of the sum of 
one hundred and ten Dollars to him in hand paid, by the said John Barefield 
the right whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Thos. Charlton Lockhart 
hath bargained sold delivered and confirmed unto the said John Barefield his 
heirs & assigns forever all that tract and parcel of Land being and lying in 
the sixth district of Baldwin County two hundred two and a half acres which is 
known and distinguished in the plan of said district by No. One hundred and 
twenty two with all and Singular the appurtenances belonging thereunto and I 
Thos. Charlton Lockhart doth bind myself my heirs and assigns to warrant and 
forever defend and confirm the said tract or parcel of Land, and every part 
unto the said John Barefield his heirs and assigns forever To have and to hold 
the aforesaid Tract and parcel of Land being and lying as the plat may appear 
and the said Thos. Charlton Lockhart will warrant and forever defend the said 
Land from himself his heirs and assigns and all other person or persons 
claiming or to claim the said Land in fee Simple.  In witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the day and date first above written.

Acting under a power of attorney for the estate of Samuel S. Lockhart deceased
Assigned Sealed and delivered in presence
of	Ezekiel Slocumb

Personally came before me John Lowe who being duly sworn deposeth and saith 
that he saw Thos. Charlton Lockhart sign seal and deliver the within deed for 
the purposes therein mentioned and the deponent subscribed the same as a 
witness and saw Ezekiel Slocumb do so likewise.	John Lowe
