McGough & Thomas C. McGough, I Hope H. Slatter Sherriff of the County aforesaid did lately seize the following parcel of land hereinafter described as the property of the said James C. & Thomas C. McGough & after being duly & publicly advertised agreeable to law did on the fifth day of September in the year eighteen hundred twenty six at the place of public said sales in the said County of Jones exposed the land at public out cry when John Martin & Alfred Iverson being the highest bidders the same was purchased of to them at he price or sum of one dollar. Now this indenture made the eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred twenty six & in the fifty first year of the independence of the United States of America between the said Hope H. Slatter Sheriff as aforesaid of the one part & the said John Martin & Alfred Iverson of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Hope H. Slatter Sheriff as aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said John Martin & Alfred Iverson at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, granted, bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain & sell so far as the office of Sherriff authorizes him unto the said John Martin & Alfred Iverson their heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying situate & being in said County known as part of lot number one hundred & six(106) in the Sixth District originally Baldwin now Jones County, the said part containing one hundred & fifteen acres more or less adjoining land of James Huckaby’s & Richard Harris which was seized or levied upon by virtue of fiera facias as aforesaid together with all & singular the rights and members & appurtenances thereof unto the said tract or parcel of land being belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right, title, interest property claim & demand of the said James C. & Thomas C. McGough in law equity or otherwise whatsoever of or to the same. To have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land & premises & every other part thereof unto the said John Martin & Alfred Iverson their heirs & assigns to the only proper use, benefit & behoof of the said John Martin & Alfred Iverson their heirs & assigns forever in fee simple in as full & _manner as the said James C. & Thomas C. McGough or their heirs & assigns did or might have done & enjoyed the same had it not been seized & sold under the execution aforesaid. In Witness whereof the said Hope H. Slatter Sheriff as aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written. Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Hope H.
