All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Deppner http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002870 March 13, 2007, 12:45 am Written: January 11, 1847 Recorded: March 8, 1847 Jones County, Georgia Deed Book R, pages 135-136 Georgia Whereas, the Inferior Court of the County of Jones when sitting for ordinary purposes on the ninth day of November in the year eighteen hundred and forty six upon the application of Horatio May and Samaria May administrators on the estate of James May, deceased, did pass an order for the sale of the real estate of said deceased, hereinafter described (legal notice of such application having been first given in one of the public Gazettes of this State, to wit, in the Federal Union for four months previous to the granting of the order aforesaid) And whereas the said Horatio May & Samaria May Administrators as aforesaid, (having first given sixty days’ notice of said sale and of the time and place thereof, in the public Gazette aforesaid and at the door of the Court house in said County) did on the first Tuesday in January in the year eighteen hundred and forty seven at the place of public sales in the County aforesaid, expose to sale at public auction, under and by virtue of the order aforesaid, the premises hereinafter mentioned. And whereas the said premises were then and there knocked off to James A. Shores (who was the highest bidder for the same) at and for the sum of two hundred and seventy five dollars. Now this Indenture, made the eleventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and forty seven between the said Horatio May and Samaria May of the County of Jones and State aforesaid, administrators as aforesaid, of the one part, and James A. Shores of the County of Jones and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Horatio May and Samaria May administrators as aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and seventy five dollars in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said James A. Shores his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in said County on the waters of Commissioners Creek, adjoining Theodore Goodwin and others and known as the Ellis place, containing two hundred two and a half acres more or less. To have and to hold the said bargained premises, with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said premises being, belonging, or in any wise appertaining, with the remainders, rents, issues, and profits thereof, to the only proper use, benefit, and behoof of him the said James A. Shores his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, in fee Simple. And the said Horatio May and Samaria May administrators as aforesaid, their heirs, executors, and administrators, the said bargained premises, unto the said James A. Shores his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, against all persons claiming by, from, or under the said James May, deceased, or the said Horatio May and Samaria May administrators as aforesaid, but against no other person whatsoever, shall and will forever warrant and defend, by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof, the said Horatio May and Samaria May administrators as aforesaid, have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year last above written.
