May to Leonidas B. Gardner Georgia Jones County This Indenture made this the twenty second day of September one thousand Eight hundred and forty nine between Levi P. May of the county aforesaid and State of Georgia of the one part and Leonidas B. Gardner of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said L. P. May in and for the sum of Six Hundred and Fifty dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and conveyed and confirmed and doth by these presents, doth grant bargain and sell and confirm unto the said L. B. Gardner his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of Land lying and being and situate in the first district Originally Baldwin now Jones County and State aforesaid known and distinguished in the plan of said district as portion of lot number seven (7) portion of lot No. Eight (8) portion of Fraction No. Three (3) the whole containing Two hundred two and a half acres more or less adjoining lands of James A. [illegible] and James Wilkinson and Miss ?Ready and others and on the South ?West by the old beginning line and on the North West by the ????? Land on the dividing line ??? ??? Line on the North East the ???? ????? South east. To have and to hold the said bargained premises unto the said L. B. Gardner his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the appurtenances, thereunto belonging, to him and to his own proper benefit and behoof for ever in fee simple, and the said Levi P. May for himself, Executors, and administrators, the said bargained premises unto the said L. B. Gardner his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against himself and against any other person whomsoever. In testimony whereof the said Levi P. May hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and Year first above written. Levi P. May (L. S.) Test James A. Shores Horatio May Georgia Jones County Personally came before me Horatio May who being duly sworn deposeth and says that he saw L. B. Gardner [should be L. P. May] sign, seal and deliver the within Deed for the purposes therein mentioned, and that the deponent subscribed the same as a witness and saw James A. Shores do so likewise.
