This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of October in the year of our lord 
1827 between Obadiah Phillips of the County of Monroe and State aforesaid of 
the one part, and John Barfield of the County of Jones and State of Georgia of 
the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Obadiah Philips for and in 
consideration of the sum of Eighty dollars to him in hand paid at and before 
the Signing, Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these 
presents do grant, bargain, Sell and Convey unto the said John Barfield his 
heirs and assigns all and Singular that tract or parcel of Land situate lying 
and being in the County of Jones and State of Georgia on the waters of 
Commissioners Creek, containing Two hundred two and a half acres be the same 
more or less, known and distinguished by Lot No. One hundred and forty six in 
the sixth district of formerly Baldwin now Jones County.  To Have and To Hold 
the said bargained premises together with all and Singular the rights, members 
and appurtenances thereof or in anywise appertaining to the premises to the 
said John Barfield his heirs and assigns to their own proper use benefit and 
behoof in fee Simple.  And the said Obadiah Philips his heirs and assigns the 
said premises will warrant and for ever defend against themselves and all and 
every other person or persons whatever.  In witness whereof the said Obadiah 
Philips hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year above written.
