Indenture between Deputy Sheriff Thomas Levinson and William Lowe for Sale of James Ruffin Property 07 Nov 1820 JONES COUNTY, GEORGIA Deed Book L -p 231 Nov 7, 1820 Whereas in obedience to twenty two sie sacias sued out of the JusticesCourt of the county of Jones at the suite of Jesse Lisle and returned Thomas Levinston, Deputy Sheriff of the county aforesaid, did lately seize the land hereinafter described as the property of the said JAMES RUFFIN and after duly and publicly advertised agreeable to law, did on the sixth day of the J?, the year eighteen hundred and twenty at the place of public sale in the said County of Jones expose the same at public outcry, when WILLIAM LOWE being the highest bidder, the same was knocked off to him at the price or sum of Three Hundred dollars. Now this indenture made the seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty and in the 43th year of the Independence of the United States of America, between the Said THOMAS LEVINGSTON, deputy sheriff as aforesaid of the one part, and the said WILLIAM LOWES of the other part, witnesseth, that the said THOMAS LEVINGSTON, deputy sheriff an aforesaid, for an in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred dollards to him in hand paid by the said WILLIAM LOWE at and before the sealing and delivery of these present, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, and sold and by these present doth grant, bargain and sell so far as the Office of Sheriff authrorizes him unto the LOWE, his heirs and asigns, all that tract or parcel of land containing fifty (50) acres being part of the lot No 127 in the ELEVENTH DISTRICT of said county adjoining WHITE and said LOWE where on said JAMES RUFFIN now lives together with all and singular the rights, members and appertenances thereof to the said tract of land, being belonging or in anywise appertaining and also all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claim and demand of the said JAMES RUFFIN in law, equity, or otherwise whatsoever, of, in or to the same; to have and to hold the said tract of land and premisese and every part thereof unto the said WILLIAM LOWE, his heirs and asigns, to the only proper use, benefit and behoof of the said WILLIAM LOWE his heris and assigns forever, in fee simple, in a full and ample a manner as the said JAMES RUFFIN or his heirs or assigns did or might have held and enjoyed the same, had it not been seized and sold under the excection aforesaid.
