Smith from James Roquemore This indenture made this the ninth day of November eighteen hundred and forty seven between James Roquemore of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and John I. Smith of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Roquemore for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and does by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said John I. Smith his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the eighth district originally Baldwin now Jones County known in the plan of said district as No. (blank) containing fifty acres ore or less being the place whereon Lewis now lives, adjoining the lands of John Byrd, Lamar Mahanna and the said James Roquemore being of the place whereon the said James Roquemore formerly lived and the said John I. Smith lands that he purchased of Joseph I. Cooper. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said John I. Smith, his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to him and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple. And the said James Roquemore for himself, his heirs, executors, administrators the said bargained premises unto the said John I. Smith, his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claims of all other persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said James Roquemore hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. /s/ James Roquemore {Seal} Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Test Thomas S. Humphries Sterling W. Smith Jr. Georgia Jones County Before me James T. Renfroe a Justice of the Peace of said County, personally came Sterling W. Smith, Jr. who being duly sworn says that he saw James Roquemore sign seal and deliver the within deed for the purposes therein mentioned - that the said deed was attested by deponent & Thomas S.
