This indenture made the twenty third day of October in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred twenty
seven between Arthur Dillard of the County of Monroe &
State aforesaid of the one part and Sterling W. Smith of
the County of Jones & State aforesaid of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Arthur Dillard for & in
consideration of the sum of one thousand & forty dollars
to him in hand paid at & before the sealing & delivery of
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
hath granted bargained sold & conveyed & do by these
presents grant bargain sell & convey unto the said
Sterling W. Smith his heirs & assigns all that tract or
parcel of land situate lying & being in the County of
Jones (but in the county of Baldwin at the time of
survey) on the waters of camp beach containing two
hundred two & a half acres more or less it being lot
number fifty two originally granted to Joshua Harvill
adjoining lands of Peter Clower on the west & north west
on the east by lands belonging to Soloman Philips on the
east by lands now owned and in the occupancy of the said
Sterling W. Smith.

To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him
the said Sterling W. Smith his heirs & assigns together
with all & singular the rights members & appurtenances
thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his &
their own proper benefit & behoof forever in fee simple
and the said Arthur Dillard for himself his heirs
executors & administrators the said bargained premises
unto the said Sterling W. Smith his heirs & assigns will
warrant & forever defend the right title thereof against
themselves & against the claim of all other persons
whatever.

In witness whereof the said Arthur Dillard hath hereunto
set his hand & seal the day & year above written
