Speir both of the County & State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Harrison Smith for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred & two 50/100 dollars in hand paid at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened & conveyed & confirmed & by these presents do grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the said Jno. P. Speir his heirs &c all that part of parcel of land in the Town of Clinton it being one half of lot number four and the part the said Speir has in cultivation ~ To have and to hold the said bargained premises with all & singular the rights members & appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said lot of land being belonging or in any wise appertaining with the remainder & remainders reversion & reversions rents issues & profits thereof to the only proper use benefit & behoof of him the said Jno Speir his heirs Executors admr. & assigns in fee simple & the said Harrison Smith his heirs &c the said bargained premises unto said Speir his heirs executors &c against the said Harrison Smith his heirs executors &c and all and every other person or persons shall & will warrant & forever defend by virtue of these presents.
