Witnesseth said Harrison Smith for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred & twenty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Horatio Bowin at & before the signing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, sold, aliened, conveyed, & confirmed, & by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, confirm unto the said Horatio Bowin, his heirs & assigns a certain lot of land & lying in Town of Clinton, & fronting Washington Street, bounding on the East lot No.__ & West by Lot No. 41, known & distinguished in the plan of said town by No. 45 containing one half acre. To have and to hold the said lot with all & singular the rights members & appurtenances whatsoever to the lot being belonging or in any wise appertaining with the remainder, remainders, reversion & reversions, rents, issues & profits thereof, to the only proper use, behoof of him the said Horatio Bowin, his heirs, executor administrator & assigns in fee simple to the said Harrison Smith, his heirs, executor and administrator will warrant & forever defend said bargained premises unto the said Horatio Bowin, his heirs, executor, administrator & assigns, from the claim or claims of all other person or person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Harrison Smith has hereunto set his hand, & affixed his seal, on the day and year above written ~ Signed. Georgia Jones County Be it remembered that Rebecca Smith wife of the within named Harrison Smith this day came in her own proper person before me & being separately examined, saith that she renounces, relinquishes, & forever quits all claim of dower or any other interest that she might now by any possibility be entitled to in the within described lot of land in Clinton unto Horatio Bowin and that she has done the same voluntarily & without constraint ~ ~ In witness whereof the said Rebecca Smith hath hereunto set her hand & seal on the 31st day of December 1821. her Rebecca x Smith {Seal} mark __& acknowledged before me Gustavus Hendrick, J.I.C.
