Witnesseth that I the said Silas Downs for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said James Sockwell have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell transfer convey and confirm to the said James Sockwell his heirs and legal representatives forever all that tract of or parcel of land situate lying and being in the said State and County above mentioned on the waters of Falling Creek known and distinguished in the plan of the Twelfth district of Jones County originally Baldwin by the number two hundred and nine containing by Grant to Lott Dables of Barrel’s District Elbert County two hundred ten and a half acres more or less as will appear by the register of said Grant in the Secretarys of State office in Book 12 Baldwin (folio 190) the marked trees courses and distances of which will appear by having references to the plot annexed to the Land Grant was conveyed to the said Hugh McDonald by said Lott dated the 31st day of December 1819 as will appear by the said record of the said deed in the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Jones County in the Book of (D folio 26) together with all rights numbers benefits and advantages rents reversions and profits thereof and every other part thereof with all and singular the improvements that now is and may hereafter be made unto the said James Sockwell and his heirs and legal reprentatives forever to be held by him in fee simple. I the said Silas Downs my heirs and legal representatives the said land and premises as aforesaid and all of them in manner and form as aforesaid from and against the lawful titles of me my heirs and assigns and all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I the said Silas Downs have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date first above written. Silas Downs {Seal} Signed sealed & delivered In presence of us Green Whatley William Brooks Georgia, Jones County - Personally appeared before me William Brooks who being duly sworn saith on oath that he saw the within deed signed sealed and delivered for the purpose therein mentioned also that he is a subscribing witness to the same and saw Green Whatley subscribe his name as a witness likewise sworn to and subscribed before me the 27th November 1820.
