Sockwell to Ebenezer Ormsby & Samuel G. Burkwith This indenture made the 31st day of March one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, between Levin D. Sockwell of the state and County aforesaid, of the one part, and Ebenezer Ormsby and Samuel G. Burkwith of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Levin D. Sockwell hath made and delivered to the said Ebenezer and to the said Samuel two certain promissory notes, the one given to the said Ebenezer being for the sum of seventy three dollars and eighty four cents payable the first day of January eighteen hundred and thirty two, and the other given to the said Samuel being for the sum of forty eight dollars sixty two and a half cents payable on the day and year last aforesaid. Now for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars by the said Ebenezer and the said Samuel to the said Levin D. Sockwell in hand paid the receipt whereof hereby acknowledged as well as for the better securing the payment of the aforesaid promissory notes, the said Levin D. hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Ebenezer and the said Samuel G. their heirs and assigns the following tract or parcel of land, to wit, the lot of land whereon the said Levin D. now and has for many years resided, adjoining Ridgeway Hogan on the north or north west, the widow Hogan on the west or south west and adjoining the lands of John Dennis on the east and south east; lying directly on and south of the public highway leading from Clinton to Macon. Newsom This indenture made and entered into this twenty eighty day of November eighteen hundred & thirty one, between Levin D. Sockwell of said State and County of the one part and J.W.A. Newsom of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Levin D. for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the execution of these presents, the receipt is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained, sold, conveyed and confirmed and doth by these presents bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said J. W. A. Newsom his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land, containing sixty five acres more or less lying and being in said County on the road leading from Clinton to Macon adjoining Ridgway Hogan and others and whereon the said Levin D. now lives.
