Wilkinson, Administrator on the Estate of Benjamin Wilkinson deceased, did pass an order for the sale of the real Estate of said deceased, hereinafter described, by legal notice of such application having been given in one of the public Gazettes of the state, viz., in the Macon Telegraph for two months previous to the granting of the order aforesaid; and whereas the said James W. Wilkinson as administrator as aforesaid, having given forty days notice of said sale and of the time and place thereof in the Macon Telegraph, and at the Door of the Court House in said County, did on the fifth day of February Eighteen and fifty six, at the place of public sales in the county aforesaid, expose to sale at public Auction in and by virtue of the order therein aforesaid the premises, hereinafter mentioned, and whereas the said premises were this day then knocked off to John Barfield who was highest and best bidder for the same, at and for the sum of Fifteen hundred and one Dollars. Now this Indenture made the sixth day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty six in the eigheth [sic] year of the Independence of United States of America, between the said James W. Wilkinson Administrator as aforesaid of the state and county as aforesaid of the one part, and John Barfield of the same state and county of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said James W. Wilkinson Administrator as aforesaid for an [sic] consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred and one Dollars, in hand paid at and before the Sealing and delivery of [these] presents, the receipt whereby [sic] is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, Sold, and aliened, conveyed and confirmed and by the[se] [presents] doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said John Barfield, his Heirs and assigns, all that Tract or parcel of Land containing ? [no amount of acres is given, only the question mark], situate, lying and being in the Sixth District originally Baldwin now Jones County there foresaid [sic] known in the plan by lot No. 173, one hundred and Seventy three and part of Fraction No. 190, one hundred and ninety two, containing 90 acres, the whole containing two hundred sixty two and half acres more or less. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land, with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, free from the lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever, and I the said James W. Wilkinson the Administrator therein aforesaid, do for myself my heirs Executors, Administrators, for ever do warrant and defend the right and title of said land or lands from the lawful claim or claims of all person whatsoever, unto the said John Barfield his Heirs and assigns in fee Simple.
