Lydia is totally blind and without means. Daniel Scott died the 18th day of February 1849 near Clinton, Jones Co., GA and was buried at Harper's Graveyard. Lydia Scott applied for and received two 80 acre land warrants for the service of her husband Daniel Scott. Lydia Scott's maiden name was Lydia Gamage. Affadavits were taken from: Gustavus Scott son age 51, Ruthy M Scott dau-in-law age 40, both of Cleburne Co., AL John Scott son age 48 of Tallapoosa Co., AL,Alexander F. Scott age 56 of Tallapoosa Co., AL, Micajah Davis, age 85 and Baxter B. Davis, age 81 both of Randolph Co., AL. War of 1812 Declaration of a Widow For Pension State of Alabama, Co. of Randolph- On this 27th day of April 1877 appeared before clerk of circuit court Lydia Scott age 85 resident of Cleburne Co., Alabama declares that she is the widow of Daniel Scott Daniel Scott who served the full period of sixty days in the military sevice of the United States in the War of 1812, and who was the identical Daniel Scott who volunteered in Captain (probably) Littles Co. at Washington, GA on December 1812 or 1813 and was honorably discharged at Fort Hawkins, GA on Dec 1813 or 1814. She states that her husband has frequently told her that he was not in any battles but that he was an invalid all the time. that she was married under the name Lydia Gamage to said Daniel Scott about 20 January 1812 by James Chivers, J.P. at the house of her father that her said husband died at or near Clinton, GA on the 18 day of Feb. 1848. D.A. Penyman of Randolph Co., AL her lawful attorney to prosecute her claim that her post office is at Rockdale in the Co. of Randolph State of Alabama that her domicile or place of abode is at or near Chulafinee, Cleburne Co., AL Daniel Scott 4(Booth's) GA Militia Corp. Capt Herman Mercer's Company of Infantry, 4 Reg't Georgia Militia War of 1812 Appears on Company Pay Roll for Nov. 1814 to May 6, 1815 Arrived at the rendezvous Nov. 21,1814 Expiration of service, Apr 28, 1815. From residence to rendezvous, 90 miles. From where discharged to residence, 90 miles. From rendezvous and discharge to residence, 180 miles. Traveling to and from residence, 12 days. Term of service charged, 5 months, 18 days. Contract price of rations, 18 cents Pay per month, 10 dollars.
