JARRELL AGED 79, DIES Widely Known Confederate Veteran Ill Only Short Time. FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON Adjt. John A. Jarrell, 79 years of age, formerly commander of R. A. Smith Camp, United Confederate Veterans, died at 2:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 417 Chappel Street, after a short illness. He was one of the best known Confederate Veterans of Bibb County and for years had the reputation of never missing a reunion of his old comrades. Adjutant Jarrell was born in Jones County, but moved to Macon 43 years ago. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, three daughter, twenty-seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three sisters and two brothers. His sons and daughters are J. W. Jarrell, of Bay City, Texas; A. A. and Walter G. Jarrell, of Macon; Mrs. Mattie Jones, of Gray; Mrs. W. W. Mosley, of Macon, and Mrs. A. H. Fink, of Miami, Fla.; the sisters, Mrs. M. E. Smith, Atlanta; Mrs. Laura Patton, Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Carrie Campbell, of Macon; the brothers, G. E. Jarrell, Macon, and J. L. Jarrell, of Griffin. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, Rev. Davidson, of Bonaire, officiating. Interment will be in the family burying ground near Mountain Springs or Irwin Crossing in Twiggs County. The pallbearers will be his three sons, J. W., A. A., and W. G. Jarrell, and W. W. Mosley, A. H. Fink and L. M. Stevens. Adjutant Jarrell served through the entire War Between the States. He was a member of Company B, Jackson's Corps, Dole's Brigade, Twelfth Georgia Regiment, and fought with Gen. Stonewall Jackson through the Shenandoah Valley. A. J. Womack, commander of the R. A. Smith Camp, Confederate Veterans, last night urged all veterans to attend the funeral this afternoon in uniform. NOTES: Mrs. John A. Jarrell was Mattie James Son, A. A.
