The Georgia Enterprise, Feb. 12, 1869

NOTE: The wife of Hearndon/Herndon Patterson was
Mazy, not Mary. If the newspaper erroneously
reported her name as Mary, maybe it was a typo or
other mistake but her name in all other documents
such as wills, estate records, marriage, etc. is
"Mazy" or sometimes "Mazie." Researcher: Janet

Died
Near Clinton, Jones Co., Ga., on the 22d of January,
1869. Mrs. MARY PATTERSON, consort of Judge Hearndon
Patterson. Deceased was in the 62d year of her age;
was married to the Judge more than 41 years; was
truly an estimable lady; a kind, loving, devoted
wife, and the most affectionate of mothers. She had
been an orderly, consistant,and conscientious member
of the Old School Baptist church for 33 years.
Conscious of death she fell asleep in Jesus, in
peace with God and man, without a struggle or groan.
Thou art gone, noble, generous creature. Peace to
thy ashes.
