To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting Know Ye, That in pursuance of an act of the General Assembly of this state, passed on the 26th day of Jun, 1806, for making distribution of the land in the counties of Wilkinson and Baldwin, I have given and granted unto Benjamin Finny of Sixth District Columbia County, son of Benjamin, his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or lot of land containing two hundred two and an half acres, situate, lying and being in the 24th District, Wilkinson County, in said state, which said tract or lot of land is known and distinguished in the plan of said district by the number Two hundred and eighty 280 having such shape, form and marks as appeary by a plat of the same hereunto annexed; To Have and to Hold the said tract or lot of lant, together with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances thereof, whatsoever unto the said Benjamin Finny his heirs and assigns to his and their own proper use, benefit and behoof, for ever, in fee simple. Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the said state, this 28th day of October, 1896 and of the Independence of American, the 32nd. Registered 28th day of Oct 1897 Additional Comments: Benjamin Finney received land in the lottery in 1806 and did settle that land. Benjamin (1757 - November 18, 1824) married to Annie Beale, was a Revolutionary War soldier. Two of his children married Sarahs. His son, also named Benjamin, born in 1785, married Sarah Carson and son James married Sarah Barron. The spelling of John's children's names changed from Finnie on his will, to Finny in later census records. LL280 District 24 became Pulaski County when it was formed from Wilkinson. The Benjamin Finney family lived in Jones County.
