Probated 2 January 1815. Jonathan Halsted's Will: My will is that Isabella Halsted, my wife, shall occupy and enjoy all the property tenable or personal that shall be in my possession at my death; that she shall be sole and only Executrix and with liberty for me to do and act as she shall think proper during her lifetime. At her decease the residue of the property, that I may die posses of shall go to my children share and share alike. I hereby give freedom to Prince my slave at the death of my wife, Isabella, with whom he must serve until her decease. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty-seventh day of August 1814, and in the Independence of U. S. 39. Jonathan Halsted. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of John Simmons, R. Hill, J. H. Renton. Georgia. Jones County. Personally came and appeared in Open Court, James Horatio Renton one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw Jonathan Halsted, deceased, execute the within will and that it is the true last will and testament of the said deceased and that John Simmons and Robert Hill were present and subscribed their names as witnesses thereto.
