JONES COUNTY GA Wills - Jonathan Parrish 1857 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Larry Comer LComer@houston.rr.com Last Will and Testament and Codicil of Jonathan Parrish Jones County, Georgia, Will Record D, pages 145-49 Jonathan Parrish Will Georgia } I Jonathan Parrish of said Jones County } County and State being of sound and disposing memory do make constitute and declare this to be my last will and Testament. First. I will and bequeath unto my nephew Henry C. Parrish the sum of two thousand dollars to be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named, One thousand dollars each out of the first and second crops that shall be made after the payment of all my debts, to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever. Second. I will and bequeath unto my sister Polly Gentry formerly Polly Parrish an annuity of one hundred dollars to be paid by my Executrix Annually after my death to the sole and seperate use of the said Polly Gentry for her support benefit and maintenance free from the debts liabilities contracts control of her husband to have and to hold the same for and during her natural life. Third. I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Nancy Y. Parrish all my household and kitchen furniture my carriage and horses my buggy and Horse and one half of all my Estate real and personal of every kind description whatever to have and to hold the same to her and her heirs forever, the other half of my Estate I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Nancy Y. Parrish to have and to hold the same for and during her natural lifetime. Upon the death of my wife I will and bequeath unto my niece Sally M. Wilson formerly Sally M. Winn the sum of two thousand dollars to have and to hold the same for and during her natural lifetime. Upon the death of the said Sally M. Wilson leaving no child or children living then the said two thousand dollars Shall go to and vest in the three daughters of my brother Nathaniel H. Parrish Share and Share alike to have and to hold the same to them and their heirs forever - The remainder of that half of my Estate not willed in fee Simple to my wife, I will and bequeath upon the death of my wife in the following manner. One third to my sister Elizabeth Davis, One third to my sister Sally Aston the remaining one third to the children of my brother Nathaniel H. Parris [sic] who shall be living at the time of the death of my wife share and share alike. The said Elizabeth Davis Sally Aston and the children of Nathaniel H. Parrish specified as aforesaid to have and to hold the shares in said Estate Specified to them and their heirs forever. Fourth. I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Nancy Y. Parrish James M. Gray and Francis S. Johnson my Executors to carry into effect this my last will and Testament but the said James M. Gray and Francis S. Johnson are to take no action in the Execution of the smae until after the death of my said wife my wife as executrix aforesaid shall have power to sell any negro that may be troublesome to her but shall replace the same by buying another or loaning out the money at interest, she may also buy lands if necessary this power is granted in reference to her life interest in my Estate. Georgia } Whereas Jonathan Parrish did Jones County } on the 31st day of March in the year 1857 Sign Seal declare and publish my last will and Testament in the presence of Horatio Bowen Richard H. Hutchings and Alexander Juhan who Signed the Same as witnesses, and whereas I desire to alter and change that part or portion of said will which nominates and appoints Francis S. Johnson as one of my Executors to the same. I therefore make and publish this Codicil to my said will and Testament. I revoke and annul all that part or portion or portion [sic] of my will and testament which nominates and appoints the said Francis S. Johnson as said Executor this January 10th 1861. Jona. Hutchings and Alexander Juhan two of the subscribing witnesses to the within instrument of writing who being duly sworn deposeth and Saith that they saw Jonathan Parrish the Testator Sign Seal publish and declare the within instrument of writing to be and to contain his true last will and Testament that the Testator executed the same freely and without compulsion and that he was at the time of signing and Executing the same of sound and disposing mind and memory and that deponents together with one Horatio Bowen Signed the Same as witnesses at the request of said Testator in his presence and in the presence of each other.
