I Peyton T. Pitts of Said State and county knowing the certainty of death and now while I am in Sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form as follows - Item First I will and direct that all my just debts if any at my death be first paid by my Executor hereinafter named as speedily as the law contemplates - Item Second I give and bequeath to my great grand son Peyton H. Griswold the sum of Twenty five hundred dollars in money to be raised out of my estate - and the interest of Said Sum of Money to be annually used in his education & support until he is sufficiently advanced in education and age to enter college - and I direct that he be then Sent to the Commercial College at Poukeepsie New York State and there to receive a thorough and complete collegiate education - that one thousand dollars of the said Twenty five hundred, besides the accruing interest as given him in this item be used and expended in his education at Said College together with Such annual interest as may accrue upon the remaining fifteen hundred dollars - and when he arrives at the age Twenty one years the Said remaining Fifteen hundred dollars be paid to him - It is my intention in this item and I so will and direct that Said Twenty five hundred dollars be (by my Executor or by a guardian appointed to manage this money in the usual mode for him) invested in Some Safe Security at an annual lawful interest in order to carry out the object of this bequest. Item the Third I give and bequeath unto my Grand Son Peyton Thomas Pitts five hundred dollars to be paid him in money, and direct that he shall receive no more from or out of my estate - This amount being all that I wish or intend he shall receive out of my Estate under any item in this will. Item the Fourth I give and bequeath to the State Missionary Society of Georgia the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars for Domestic Missions - and I also give & bequeath to Said Missionary Society the further sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars for Foreign Missions - said two amounts to be used by Said Society as in their Judgment will best promote the cause of Religion and Christianity. Item fifth I will and bequeath to the Trustees of my Church known as Pitts Chapel in Jones County the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to be used in repairing said Church. Item Sixth All the balance ofmy property both real and personal whatever and wheresoever the same may be, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary B. Pitts for & during her natural lifetime for her use & comfort and at her death I will and direct that all of Said property be equally divided between all my Grand Children (except Peyton Thomas Pitts to whom I have given his Share in item the Third of this Will) Share and Share alike - and that if my property cannot be equally divided then I direct it be sold in the usual legal mode for division among them. Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Mary B. Pitts Executrix of this my last will and Testament. Signed Sealed published and declared by Peyton T. Pitts as his last will and Testament who signed the same in our presence, and we at his instance and request hereto sign our names as witnesses to the Same in his presence & in the presence of each other.
