I Solomon L. Slatter of the county and state aforesaid being in perfect mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto all men and women to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. Item 1st. I give my sole to God who gave it and my body to the dust from whence it came confiding in the merits of Jesus Christ for a joyful resurrection. Item 2nd. As to my worldly goods is my will and desire that they be disposed of and I do hereby dispose of them in the following manner Item 3rd. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Lucy C. Slatter all of my property with an exception of a negro man Tom both real and personal that may be remaining after my just debts are paid. Item 4th. I give unto my beloved brother Shadrach F. Slatter a negro man named Tom by his giving up a mortgage on said negroe to my wife Lucy C. Slatter. Item 5th. I do hereby constitute and appoint my Brother Shadrach F. Slatter my Executor of this my last will and testament. Item 6th. I desire that my Executor may dispose of my perishable property & as much of my land as will pay my Just debts. Stephens Georgia Jones County At Chambers the 12th day of February 1825, this will was opened in the presence of James Gray & Horatio Whitfield Esquires two of the Justices of the Inferior Court of said county who ordered the same proven and William Fluellen one of the subscribing witnesses to said will being duly sworn saith that he heard the deceased Solomon Slatter pronounce this to be his last will that he saw him execute it as such and that he this deponent witnessed the same in the presence of Solomon Slatter by his request and Samuel Cook and William B. Stephens subscribe the same also as witnesses at the time of the execution thereof and that said Solomon Slatter was of sound mind at the time. Aft. Joel's death bef. 1767, Frances married Maj. John Williams. This Williams line is out of the Isle of Wight Co., VA and is closely allied with the Walter Pitts line from whom Peyton Taylor Pitts descends. Maj. John Williams was the brother of Martha Williams, Walter Pitts 2nd wife. When Walter died Martha md. Christopher Bustin, Frances Bustin's brother. Peyton Taylor Pitts was the s/o John J. Pitts and Elizabeth Taylor and thus a grandson of Martha and Walter. He, also, was the brother of Noel Pitt (my line) who md. Clarinda Dunn d/o Nehemiah Dunn.
