SMITH’S ESTATE We the undersigned appointed by the Honorable the Inferior Court of said County when selling for ordinary purposes commissioners to value & divide the land & such of the Negroes belonging to the estate of Sterling W. Smith deceased that were not disposed of by the executor among the legatees of said deceased in conformity to said last will & testament have perform the duty assigned us, we being first sworn to make the same according to justice & equity without favor or affection to any of the parties to the best of our skills & understanding. We first valued the lot of land No. 78 in the 8th District of originally Baldwin now Jones County willed to the children of Catharine L. Doggett at Six dollars & fifty cents per acres & there being 202½ makes the sum of $1316.25¢. Smith Negro man John at $850.00 who with his advancement of $2500.00 made by deceased in his lifetime makes the sum of $2500.00 which is $42.20 5/6 less than his share. We have assigned to Sterling W. Smith Negro man Washington at $800.00, Stepney at $725.00 which with his advancement made by the deceased in his lifetime f $1960.00 makes the sum of $3485.00 & which is $92.80¢ more than a share. We have assigned to Frances C. Cromwell the undivided one third of the lands whereon the deceased lived in his lifetime & denominated by us the home-place, the one third of which is $1492.33 1/3 & Negro boy Henry $800.00 Negro girl Ellen at $475.00 & Negro boy George at $725.00 which makes the sum of $3492.33 13 which is $100.13 ¢ more than a share which was paid by her to Thomas J. Stewart,B.R. Vaugh & the children of Catharine L. Doggett. We have assined to Berry R. Vaughn in right of his wife Adaline E. one undivided third of the home place at $1492.33 1/3 & Negro woman Louisa at $800.00, Negro girl Diana at $200.00, Harriet a child at $150.00, Jane a girl at $425.00 & Dorinda a woman at $300, which amke the sum of $3367.33 l/3 which is $24.86 2/3 less than a share. The said deficiency was paid to him by Frances Cromwell. We have assigned to Thomas J. Stewart in right of his wife Margaret B., one undivided third of the home place at $1492.33 1/3 & Negro woman Mariah at $675.00, Jennett a chld at $150.00 Negro woman Anna at $450.00 & a Negro girl Emelie at $500.000, which make the sum fo $3267.33 1/3 which is 124.86 2/3 less than a share, of which deficiency Sterling W. Smith paid $92.80 & the balance say $32.06 2/3 was paid by Frances C. Cromwell. We have assigned to Agustus S. Doggett & Abner W. Doggett the children of Catharine S. Doggett lot of land No. 78 in the 8th District of originally Baldwin now Jones County at the sum of $1316.25¢ & Negro boy Madison at $625.00, Negro girl Effa at $700.00 & Negro man Nelson at $750.00 which make the sum of $3391.25 which is ninety five cents less than a share: was paid by Frances E.
