WILL OF JOHN TRICE: JONES COUNTY, GA; BOOK 1809-51, PAGES 13 & 14 In the name of God, Amen, I John Trice of the County of Jones in the State of Georgia being weak in Body, but of sound & perfect memory, blessed be God for the same, do publish and make this my last Will & testament in the manner following, that is to say, First I give & bequeath to my Son James Trice all the Lot of land whereon he now lives containing two hundred two & a half acres lying in the ninth district of Baldwin County which is now Jones County N (?) One hundred & fifty eight, that said lot of land shall be all his the said James Trice shall ever have if (?) my estate should amount to more than thirty one hundred (acres?) then he the said James Trice shall have an equal part of the balance. And I do further Will that remainder of my estate which may remain after paying all my Just debts & the Legacy & Bequest above mentioned, shall be sold giving twelve months Credit as soon after my decease as is convenient, and the next proceeds divided equally between my wife Mary Trice, my oldest Son Benjamin Trice, my second Son Elisha Trice & my Son in law Jonathan Day & my three daughters following, that is to say, Patty Bates, Tabitha Haskins & Frances Moran. It is moreover my Will that my wife Mary Trice hold possession of the whole of my estate aforesaid until the day of Sale which shall be appointed by my Executor, and I do hereby appoint my Son James Trice of the County & State aforesaid & John Speir to be Executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the twenty ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & ten.
