I Susannah Hodges of the County of Jones, and State of Georgia, being very old but sound mind and disposing memory do make constitute and Ordain this my last will and testament. In the first place I recommend my Soul to God who gave it, My body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named. Now as touching my worldly matters, it is my desire that all my just debts should be paid. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my Grandson Samuel M. Hodges One hundred one and a quarter Acres of land more or less it being the North West half of the lot of land I now live upon commencing at a corner at the middle of the South West line set up at the division of the adjoining lot between the Estate of Dennis Bradley Deed, and Samuel M. Hodges from thence along the original line to Ephraim Sanders corner thence along the line between said lot and Booker Russell Purkins plantation to the North corner of said lot then along the line between the said lot and the Ridley place half the distance of said line when a corner shall be made and then in a Straight line through the middle of the aforesaid lot of land to the beginning corner dividing it into two equal parts of one hundred one and a quarter Acres each the above bounded land I give and bequeath to the aforesaid Samuel M. his heirs and Assigns forever. I do further give and bequeath to my aforesaid grandson Samuel M. Hodges my negro woman Jinny Forty one or two years of age. Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my two grand daughters Elizabeth and Susannah Bradley the other half of the lot of Land whereon I now live containing one hundred one and a quarter acres more or less and the Ridley place adjoining containing one hundred and Eighty Acres more or less. Also I give and bequeath to them my two negroes (to wit) David a man about fifty years old and Peggy a woman about the same age which shall be for their mutual interest to them their heirs and assigns forever. Fourthly, It is my desire that my House and kitchen furniture all my stock of every kind, all my working tools of every description, and every else which I may die possessed of not herein before pointed out to be equally divided among my three grand children before pointed out (to wit) Samuel M. Hodges to have one third part Elizabeth and Susannah Bradley to have the other two thirds. I constitute and appoint my Grandson Samuel M. Hodges my Executor to this my last will & testament this 2nd day of March 1844. Susannah Hodges Signed, Sealed delivered and published by Susannah Hodges as her last will and testament in presence of us the Subscribers who subscribed our names hereto in presence of said testatrix and of each other, this the 2nd day of March 1844. Lightfoot three of the Justices of the Inferior Court of Said County in person came Bailey Bell, James Gammage & James Dorsette, three of the subscribing witnesses to the within Instrument of writing and being duly sworn deposeth and saith that they saw Susannah Hodge the Testatrix sign and publish and declare the within instrument to be and contain her last will and testament and that testatrix was of sound and disposing mind and memory at the time of Executing the same and deponents subscribed the same as Witnesses together with Jesse Glawson at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other Sworn to and subscribed before us this the 27th day of July 1846.
