I Eaton Flewellen, being of sound mind and of disposing memory and knowing that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the words and figures following, to wit. I will and bequeath to my niece, Elizabeth L. Lowther, daughter of Francis Gibson, one negroe girl named Amanda, about eight years of age and the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to be paid to her at any time within twelve months after my death by my Executors, this is to be over and above an equal share in my property. I will and bequeath to my Sister, Francis Gibson, and her children, Wiley J. Gibson, Nancy L. Whitfield, Abner F. Gibson, Taylor F. Gibson and Elizabeth L. Lowther, an equal division of all of property, both real and personal, money and notes, so that my property may be equally divided amongst them all except such as I have specially given away. I will and bequeath to Eaton F. Gibson, son of Wiley J. Gibson, five hundred dollars to be paid over to his father and to be used by him in such manner as he may think most conducive to the interest of said child. I will and bequeath that whatever amount of property my sister, Francis Gibson, may receive of my Estate to be equally divided amongst all her children at her death. I will and bequeath five hundred dollars to be paid out in Sunday clothes for my negroes by my Executor in such manner as they may think be proper. I do hereby nominate and appoint Abner F. Gibson and Wiley J. Gibson my true and lawful Executors to carry this last will and testament into effect. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this the 22nd day of November in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & Thirty Eight. Eaton Flewellen Witnesses: Vincent E. Revere William L. Hargroves Additional Comments: Will of Eaton Flewellen which was probated in Russell County, Alabama. The Will mentions Francis Flewellen Gibson, a resident of Jones County, and her children. Eaton died 19 Feb 1839 and the will was probated in Russell County in Feb of 1839 - it's in Vol 1, page 17.
