Remarkable Recovery From Illness Mr. W.T. Waller of Piedmont, one of Pike county’s upright and valuable citizens, was in the city Tuesday on business. He is recovering and gaining strength from a remarkable case of sickness. More than two years ago he was stricken down and suffered for many months, and his loved ones and friends despaired of his ever being up and well again. For two years he did not eat a substantial meal, living on cereals, such as he could force down. At one time for ten days he did not take a drop of medicine, water or particle of food of any kind, during this time taking absolutely no sort of food or nourishment. But in spite of this and the affliction which rested on him, Mr. Waller is now able to wait on himself and travel anywhere he wants to go. He also hopes to be able soon to resume work. The friends of Mr. Waller throughout this section greatly rejoice over his progress toward the entire restoration of health, and they hope that he will continue rapidly to regain his strength. During his illness Dr. J.M. Anderson of Barnesville was his physician. (Transcribed 6/13/04 Lynn Cunningham) Additional Comments: Piedmont is a Pike County place name.
