H. Askin Mr. John Holland Askin, 92, of Redbone, died early Saturday morning, December 5, at his home. He had been in feeble health for sometime but had been critically for just one day. His wife, Mrs. Dona Rebecca Bush Askin died in September 1963. While he was born in Monroe County, he had spent most of his life in Lamar County. He was a retired farmer. His greatest joy was to do something for other people, and he did so mucch [sic] that the public did not know about. Mr. and Mrs. Askin were one of Redbone's most beloved couples. The survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Asking Horne of Culloden; two sons, William Franklin Askin of Redbone and Raymond H. Askin of Toledo, Ohio; one grandson, Larry Askin of Toledo; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Fredonia Congregational Church with Dr. Wesley Martin and the Rev. Samuel D. Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Owen-Sappington cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
