Burial was in Barnesville. The Rev. Sam D. Nelson, new pastor of Fredonia, and the Rev. Howard Ethington, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, officiated. Mr. Bankson died late Saturday afternoon at the residence on Holmes Street after suffering a heart attack some days earlier. He had been a patient at Griffin-Spalding Hospital, but had returned home greatly improved when death came suddenly. An employee of William Carter Company, Mr. Bankston was a member of one of this sections pioneer families. He was well-known throughout the county and had countless friends who mourn his passing. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Dorothy Butler; two children, Dee and Jimmy; five sisters, Mrs. Clara B. Sykes, Miss Alta Bankston, Mrs. Wilburn Sappington, all of Barnesville; Mrs. Julian Fleming, Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Glenn Cooper, Cohutta, Ga.; five brothers, Frank, Everett, Walton, John and Jack Bankston, all of Barnesville.
